Business coaching is a process of assisting business executives develop effective and long lasting solutions to improve the performance of their business. Most business operations can be improved by using the services of someone from outside the business who can look at the business often from a different view point.
The present business environment is difficult and is likely to get worse before it improves. Change that is imposed, the approach used by consultants, very rarely produces a long lasting improvement. Consultants will very rarely tell you how they carry out their work and will often use software to carry out analysis which they will not let you have thereby making you dependent on them in the future.
The return on investment from coaching is usually stated as being between 300 and 750%. These figures come from a variety of independent studies carried out in differing countries and differing business sectors. I have run a lot of businesses in my time and I cannot remember seeing a business case with returns of this magnitude. If these performance figures were only from our own clients I would not be surprised if you were skeptical but these are the size of returns actually being experienced in an enormous variety of business environments.
Business coaching is not only for medium and large businesses, small business coaching is also highly effective when delivered by an experienced small business coach.
The areas covered will vary from one business to another. Some businesses will benefit from business leadership coaching or business development coaching. Some businesses are in such a serious state when they contact us that we have to mount what is almost a rescue operation to turn the business around. There are consultants who specialise in business turn around, most of whom adopt a fairly brutal approach and can damage the long term value of the business but that does not worry them because by then they have long gone with their fee safely banked.
